A Structured Process From Planning Through Support
A successful technology project depends on clear planning, accurate documentation, coordinated installation, practical programming, and reliable support. Andrus Smart Technologies uses a structured process to guide residential and commercial projects from the first conversation through final handoff and ongoing service.
The steps below explain how we define project goals, develop the system design, coordinate installation, complete programming, train users, and support the finished system.
1. Initial Consultation and Discovery
Every project begins with a consultation to understand the client, the property, the existing systems, and the desired outcome. We discuss priorities, budget, timeline, construction conditions, performance expectations, and how the technology should fit into daily life or business operations.
When appropriate, we also review the space, identify infrastructure needs, and discuss potential limitations before developing the system approach.
2. Scope and Proposal Development
After the discovery phase, we develop a proposal that defines the project scope, recommended systems, equipment, wiring, labor, programming, project management, and other required components.
We review the proposal with the client, answer questions, and make appropriate revisions so the scope, expectations, and investment are clear before the project moves forward.
3. System Design and Engineering
Once the proposal is approved, we develop the design and engineering documentation needed to guide the project. Depending on the scope, this may include system drawings, device locations, wiring requirements, equipment-rack details, network infrastructure, keypad and touchscreen locations, speaker placement, display locations, and coordination notes for other trades.
The design is reviewed before installation so key decisions are documented and potential conflicts can be addressed early.
4. Installation and Project Coordination
After the design is approved, our team coordinates scheduling, materials, wiring, equipment preparation, and installation. We work with the client, builder, project manager, designer, electrician, and other trades as needed to keep the technology work aligned with the broader project schedule.
Installation may include prewire, trim-out, equipment-rack assembly, device installation, testing, labeling, and documentation.
5. Programming, Testing, and Client Handoff
Once installation is complete, we program, configure, and test the system to confirm that the equipment, controls, network connections, scenes, and user interfaces operate as intended.
We then provide a client handoff and system orientation so users understand the controls, common functions, and available support resources.
Where available, project documentation may include as-built information, system notes, prewire photos, manuals, account details, equipment information, and other resources that make future service and support easier.
6. Ongoing Service and Support
Technology systems may require updates, troubleshooting, maintenance, equipment replacement, or adjustments over time. Our service team provides ongoing support options to help clients maintain and manage their systems after installation.
Clients can also review our Smart Support Plans for options related to preventive maintenance, remote support, system updates, documentation, priority service, and ongoing service coordination.
Warranty terms should be stated according to the current project agreement and selected support plan.
